CHANGE IN THE THREE GENERATION OF TRADITIONAL PRACTICES FOR PAIN

Aim: Despite the developments in the health field; there are still extensions of traditional beliefs and practices in society. This study was conducted to examine how traditional practices applied for pain in a province located in the Southeastern Anatolia Region changed between three generations. Method: In the study, the data were collected with a questionnare form and a form containing semi-structured interview questions. Data were collected from 3 generations (7 grandmothers-7 mothers-7 children) consisting of 7 individuals using in-depth individual interview method. Results: In the study, it was determined that in the first generation, traditional practices are preferred, and in the second and third generations, there is an increase in the use of pain medication in addition to traditional practices. Conclusion: It can be said that the health practices of individuals in case of pain are affected by previous generations, however, traditional practices continue to differ and the frequency of use decreases in the next generations.
