ACUTE VARICIAL UPPER GASTROINTESTINAL SYSTEM BLEEDINGS

Per gastrointestinal bleeding that develops in the esophagus, stomach, or proximal duodenum. It is a gastroenterological emergency given to bleeding. Patients with acute upper gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding usually present to the emergency room with complaints of melena (black tarry stool), hematemesis (vomiting of blood or coffee grounds) and hematochezia (red stool). The most common etiological reasons in patients with upper gastrointestinal bleeding are listed below. 1) Stomach and / or duodenal ulcers 2) Severe or erosive gastritis / duodenitis 3) Severe or erosive esophagitis 4) Esophagogastric varices 5) Portal hypertensive gastropathy 6) Angiodysplasia (also known as vascular ectasia) 7) Mallory-Weiss syndrome 8) Mass lesions (polyps / cancers) 9) No lesions identified (10 to 15 percent of patients) In this article, we will consider varicose upper gastrointestinal bleedings.
