It was designed as a retrospective and descriptive study. The study was completed with data from 99 patients. Age, gender, year of transplantation, chronic diseases, transplant type, graft loss, length of hospital stay, laboratory results, dialysis duration, DJ (double J ) catheter duration, antibiotic use, steroid and immunosuppressive drug doses were investigated in patient files and hospital information system records. 48.5% of the patients were hospitalised for 19 days or longer, 47.5% used more than 6 mg prednisone, 98.0% used double immunosuppressants and 19.2% had an additional surgical procedure. The duration of DJ catheter stay was 44.22±26.46 days. Postoperative urine culture produced infection on the 7th day in 4%, 14th day in 6.1%, 1st month in 11.1%, 3rd month in 12.1% and 6th month in 11.1%. CRP levels were found to be ≥5mg/l in 47.5% of the patients on postoperative day 1, 68.7% on postoperative day 3 and 51.5% on postoperative day 7. Procalcitonin levels were found to be ≥0.25 ng/mL in 27.3% of the patients on postoperative day 1, 31.3% on postoperative day 3, and 37.4% on postoperative day 7. Age, gender, chronic diseases, duration of DJ catheter, duration of dialysis, duration of hospital stay and number of immunosuppressive drugs used are among the risk factors for the development of UTI.
2025-03-26T00:00:00+03:00Copyright (c) 2025 Göbeklitepe Medical Science Journalhttps://gobeklitepejournal.com/index.php/pub/article/view/348ETHICAL DILEMMA IN INTENSIVE CARE NURSING2025-03-11T00:12:56+03:00Dilek SAKALLIdileksakalli.ds@gmail.comTürkan KARACAturkankaraca@harran.edu.tr
Intensive care units are complex units where patients' health conditions are serious, high technology is used and multiple teams work together to provide care. For this reason, intensive care units are the areas where ethical problems are most commonly encountered. An ethical dilemma is defined as the difficulty in deciding which option is better when there are two or more options. The literature reports that intensive care units nurses most frequently experience ethical dilemmas related to patient rights violations and that one of the most common ethical problems they encounter when caring for patients with infectious diseases is professional incompetence. Ethical principles are the basic guidelines that guide healthcare professionals in solving ethical problems. Three widely accepted ethical principles in professional ethics are nonmaleficence, beneficence and autonomy, which are the basic principles that guide nurses in patient care. The establishment of ethical guidelines, the enhancement of training and the strengthening of institutional support mechanisms play a crucial role in facilitating the ethical decision-making processes of nurses. This review article aims to provide information about the ethical dilemmas experienced by nurses caring for patients in intensive care units and the guiding ethical principles.
2025-03-26T00:00:00+03:00Copyright (c) 2025 Göbeklitepe Medical Science Journalhttps://gobeklitepejournal.com/index.php/pub/article/view/350RESEARCH TRENDS AND CONTENT ANALYSIS ON VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN IN NURSING (1991-2024) 2025-03-11T00:08:41+03:00Ayşe Elkocaayse.elkoca@gibtu.edu.tr
The primary aim of this study is to present bibliometric data on articles related to violence against women in the field of nursing, published in journals indexed in the Web of Science (WoS) database. The data collected within the scope of the study were analyzed using bibliometric analysis techniques across various categories, including citation counts, co-authorship, countries, most frequently used keywords, and bibliometric coupling of documents and authors. Bibliometric analysis is defined as the quantitative analysis of publications produced by individuals or institutions within a specific period and region in a given field. In this study, VOSviewer software was utilized to create network maps and conduct bibliometric analyses. The analysis revealed that the most frequently used keyword is "women violence," and the most cited areas of research include studies on women, psychology, public health, environmental health, and occupational health. It was also observed that the highest number of publications occurred in 2022. The most prolific authors were identified as Campbell, Jacquelyn C., McFarlane, Judith, and Godoy Serpa da Fonseca, Rosa Maria, while the most influential countries were the United States, Brazil, and Australia. Furthermore, the works with the highest bibliographic coupling were Arkins (2016), Bacchus (2016), and Hooker (2012). The findings of this research provide a comprehensive perspective on violence against women and its trends, contributing to the knowledge base of academics in various aspects.
2025-03-26T00:00:00+03:00Copyright (c) 2025 Göbeklitepe Medical Science Journalhttps://gobeklitepejournal.com/index.php/pub/article/view/342THE IMPACT OF DEPRESSION AND OTHER ASSOCIATED FACTORS ON MALNUTRITION IN THE ELDERLY IN TURKEY: A STRUCTURAL EQUATION MODELING2025-03-18T23:53:31+03:00Bircan ULAS KADIOĞLUdytbircan@gmail.comPınar SOYLARpsoylar@gmail.com
The aim of this research is to evaluate the nutritional status, depression status and some related factors of elderly people. The sampling of the descriptive and cross-sectional research consists of 365 elderly people. The data of the research were collected through the Personal Information Form, Mini Nutritional Assessment Test (MNA), and Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS). Malnutrition was found in 4.1% and malnutrition risk was detected in 26.6%. It was determined that 41.9% had depression. Path analyzes were conducted using AMOS v24 to investigate the relationships between MNA and GDS, gender, age, income level, presence of chronic disease, and whether or not living alone. A model was established to reveal the relationships between income, age, gender, presence of chronic disease, and living alone with MNA and GDS. In line with the insignificant path coefficients in both men and women, these paths were removed from the model and the new model was analyzed again. After removing the insignificant path coefficients from the model, in women; the path coefficient between GDS and income was found to be statistically significant, and as the income level increases, GDS increases. It was found that depression decreased in men not living alone. Malnutrition in men and women is associated with age and depression. The significant path coefficients retained in the model provide compelling evidence of complex relationships between sociodemographic factors, nutritional status, and depression. A holistic approach should be adopted in managing the health of the elderly people.
2025-03-28T00:00:00+03:00Copyright (c) 2025 Göbeklitepe Medical Science Journalhttps://gobeklitepejournal.com/index.php/pub/article/view/313DETERMINING THE ETHICAL PROBLEMS EXPERIENCED BY NURSING STUDENTS IN CLINICAL EDUCATİON 2024-12-23T14:31:04+03:00Selda RIZALARselda.rizalar@sbu.edu.trElif Beyza AKTAYelifbeyzaktay@gmail.comŞevval AKÇAOVAsevval.akcaova@hotmail.com
This study was conducted as descriptive and cross-sectional to determine the ethical problems experienced by nursing students in clinic education, with 350students of a foundation university in Istanbul. The research data were collected between 15.04.2024-24.05.2024. Ethics committee and institutional permission were obtained before starting the study. All patients (n:83) receiving hemodialysis treatment in a state hospital were included in the study. The study was completed with 72 (86.74%) patients who met the inclusion criteria. Data were collected using the hemodialysis comfort scale and self-care power scale. The research data were analyzed in the statistical program. p<0.05 was considered statistically significant. The mean self-care power score of hemodialysis patients was 24.54±4.29 and the mean comfort scale score was 67.36±10.42. A statistically significant relationship was determined between the self-care power level of the patients and the variables of gender, marital status and treatment duration (p<0.05). A statistically significant relationship was determined between the comfort level of the patients and the variables of gender, marital status, family support during treatment and disease process, and treatment duration (p<0.05). There was a statistically significant positive correlation between the level of self-care power and comfort levels of the patients (p<0.05).In conclusion, self-care power and comfort concepts are affected by individual and environmental characteristics. The self-care level of the patients was determined to be low and the comfort level was determined to be moderate. As the self-care power of patients receiving hemodialysis treatment increases, their comfort levels also increase. These two concepts can be supported through in-service training. The study was conducted to compare the social intelligence and psychological resilience levels of nurses and to examine their relationship with different variables. Our study was conducted in a descriptive and correlational manner. It was conducted in certain hospitals between March 2020 and October 2020. The Sociodemographic Data Form, Resilience Scale for Adults (RSA) and Tromso Social Intelligence Scale (TSIS) were used to collect data. According to the study results, the total TSIS score average of the participants was found to be 75.58±9.90. The average RSA total score was calculated as 123.62±19.01. A significant positive correlation was found between RSA and its sub-dimensions and TSIS and its sub-dimensions (p<0.05). In this study, it was determined that the psychological resilience and social intelligence levels of the participants were above the moderate level. It has also been shown that there is a relationship between psychological resilience and social intelligence levels. When the data collection process was planned, it was not during the Covid 19 pandemic period. Since the data collection was collected during the Covid 19 pandemic period, it also includes information about the Covid 19 pandemic period. It provides information about the social intelligence and psychological resilience of nurses during the Covid 19 pandemic period.
2025-03-28T00:00:00+03:00Copyright (c) 2025 Göbeklitepe Medical Science Journal
