In particular, online courses, digital learning materials, and academic communication being largely conducted through digital environments can create a continuous cognitive and psychological burden on students. Digital stress is a multidimensional condition that may negatively affect not only psychological well-being but also cognitive processes such as attention, concentration, and mental performance. This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between digital stress and brain fog symptoms among midwifery students. The research was conducted using a cross-sectional and descriptive design. Data were collected through a sociodemographic information form, the Digital Stress Scale, and the Brain Fog Scale. Data analysis was performed using the SPSS 26.0 statistical software, and descriptive statistics, independent samples t-tests, one-way ANOVA, and Pearson correlation analysis were applied. The results indicated a significant and positive relationship between digital stress and brain fog symptoms. In addition, sociodemographic variables such as age, grade level, employment status, and perceived income level were found to have no significant effect on digital stress and brain fog. Based on these findings, it is recommended to develop educational programs aimed at improving students’ digital media literacy and coping skills for digital stress, as well as to strengthen university-based services that support psychological well-being and digital balance.
Emine YILDIRIM Copyright (c) 2026 Göbeklitepe Medical Science Journal https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://gobeklitepejournal.com/index.php/pub/article/view/412 Sun, 29 Mar 2026 00:00:00 +0300 DEVELOPMENT OF THE ORGANIZATIONAL ALIGNMENT SCALE: VALIDITY AND RELIABILITY STUDY https://gobeklitepejournal.com/index.php/pub/article/view/413
The paucity of instruments designed to assess organizational alignment based on employees’ perceptions underscores the need for the development of psychometrically sound measurement tools in this domain. The present study aims to develop an Organizational Alignment Scale to assess the extent to which employees are aligned with their organizations. To this end, a rigorous and comprehensive scale development process was undertaken, taking into account the multidimensional nature of organizational alignment. A sequential methodological approach was adopted. In the initial phase, an extensive review of the literature was conducted, leading to the generation of an initial item pool comprising 34 items; these items were subsequently refined based on expert evaluations. The preliminary form of the scale was pilot-tested with 40 participants, and necessary revisions were implemented accordingly. To examine construct validity, Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) was conducted on data obtained from 277 participants, followed by Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) using data collected from an independent sample of 369 participants. The findings indicated that the scale consists of 15 items loading onto four distinct dimensions. These dimensions were conceptualized as Developmental Alignment and Innovativeness, Institutional Trust and Perceptual Alignment, Social and Digital Representation Alignment, and Social Integration and Cooperation. The scale was found to account for 91.36% of the total variance, and the CFA results demonstrated that the proposed model exhibited acceptable fit indices. The overall Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient was calculated as 0.898, indicating a high level of internal consistency. Collectively, these findings provide robust evidence that the Organizational Alignment Scale developed in this study constitutes a valid and reliable instrument for assessing employees’ perceptions of organizational alignment.
Muhammet ÇANKAYA Copyright (c) 2026 Göbeklitepe Medical Science Journal https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://gobeklitepejournal.com/index.php/pub/article/view/413 Sun, 29 Mar 2026 00:00:00 +0300 ANXIETY AND KNOWLEDGE LEVELS OF PARAMEDICS AND EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIANS TRAINED IN EMERGENCY BIRTH https://gobeklitepejournal.com/index.php/pub/article/view/414
The aim of this study is to determine the effect of emergency birth training given to emergency medical technicians and paramedics on their knowledge levels and anxiety status. This study employed a single-group pretest–posttest quasi-experimental design. The study sample consisted of 231 emergency medical technicians and paramedics working in one province. The research data were collected using the Personal Information Form, the Visual Comparison Scale, and the Emergency Birth Information Inquiry Form. The data were analyzed using SPSS 26.0. The mean anxiety and knowledge levels of the participants before the emergency birth training were 3.98±2.49 and 7.04±1.48, respectively, while those after the emergency birth training were 3.46±2.43 and 9.29±1.41, respectively. According to these results, while participants' anxiety levels decreased, their knowledge levels increased (t=4.335, p<0.001; t=17.708, p<0.001, respectively). As a result, regularly providing in-service training for emergency health workers with such content, supported by quality and simulation models, will make a significant contribution to maternal and newborn health.
Sabriye UÇAN YAMAÇ, Endam ÇETİNKAYA AK Copyright (c) 2026 Göbeklitepe Medical Science Journal https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://gobeklitepejournal.com/index.php/pub/article/view/414 Sun, 29 Mar 2026 00:00:00 +0300 FACTORS AFFECTING NURSES' COMFORT IN THE OPERATING ROOM ENVIRONMENT https://gobeklitepejournal.com/index.php/pub/article/view/394
This study was conducted to determine the factors affecting the comfort of nurses in the operating room environment and the suggestions of nurses to increase comfort. This descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted with the participation of 130 operating room nurses. A questionnaire form created by the researchers after reviewing the relevant literature was used to collect the data. The data were collected by face-to-face interviews with the nurses. Nurses rated the comfort level of the operating room as an average of 5.68±2.12 out of 10 point. The main three factors that positively affected the comfort of the operating room were friendship and team harmony (37%), ability to meet the needs (15.4%), and absence of excessive shifts (13.8%); whereas the main three factors that negatively affected the comfort of the operating room were physical conditions of the environment (38.5%), high workload and working hours (43%), and lack of personnel (18.5%). The correction of the negative situations seen in the working environment was found to be among the necessary suggestions to increase comfort. Based on the research results, it is recommended that the physical conditions of the operating room (lighting, temperature, noise, hygiene, etc.) be improved, working conditions be appropriately regulated, intra-team communication and cooperation be strengthened, and nurses' rest areas and basic needs be provided for in order to increase the comfort of operating room nurses.
Hatice ÇİFTÇİ, Sevda KORKUT, Mustafa MART, Zerrin ÖZÇELİK Copyright (c) 2026 Göbeklitepe Medical Science Journal https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://gobeklitepejournal.com/index.php/pub/article/view/394 Sun, 29 Mar 2026 00:00:00 +0300 DISASTER FEAR AND INDIVIDUAL RESILIENCE AMONG ADULTS LIVING IN A HIGH EARTHQUAKE-RISK CITY IN TÜRKİYE https://gobeklitepejournal.com/index.php/pub/article/view/407
This study aimed to determine the level of disaster fear and earthquake resilience among adults living in a high-risk earthquake city in Turkey and to identify factors influencing individual resilience. This cross-sectional field study was conducted with 392 adults aged 20–65 years using an online survey. Data were collected through a Descriptive Questionnaire and the Individual Disaster Resilience Assessment Scale (BADD). Descriptive statistics, independent samples t-test, one-way ANOVA, and linear regression analysis were used. More than half of the participants (75.8%) had experienced at least one disaster, and 19.1% had lost a relative due to a disaster. Only 34.9% reported having a personal or family disaster plan, and 28.8% had an emergency kit. The mean disaster fear score was 5.91 ± 2.51, with 30.4% reporting high fear levels (≥8). The mean resilience score was 61.18 ± 9.64. Regression analysis revealed that educational status, previous disaster experience, and prior first aid training were significant predictors of individual disaster resilience. Despite high disaster exposure and moderate fear levels, individual preparedness and resilience remain insufficient. Interventions focusing on disaster education and skill-based training may enhance individual and community resilience in earthquake-prone regions.
Gülnaz KARATAY, Nazan GÜRARSLAN BAŞ, Nilgün SÖYLEMEZ Copyright (c) 2026 Göbeklitepe Medical Science Journal https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://gobeklitepejournal.com/index.php/pub/article/view/407 Mon, 30 Mar 2026 00:00:00 +0300 THE EFFECT OF PLANNED BREASTFEEDING MANAGEMENT EDUCATION ON BREASTFEEDING OR FORMULA FEEDING, AND BREASTFEEDING SELF-EFFICACY IN NEONATAL INTENSIVE CARE UNIT: A QUASI-EXPERIMENTAL STUDY https://gobeklitepejournal.com/index.php/pub/article/view/367
This quasi-experimental study aimed to assess the effect of planned breastfeeding management education on feeding practices and breastfeeding self-efficacy among mothers of newborns in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). The study included 130 mothers whose infants were admitted to the NICU for at least 3 days. The control group received standard breastfeeding education, while the experimental group received individualized planned education. Data on feeding practices and breastfeeding self-efficacy were collected through telephone interviews at the 3rd and 6th months after discharge. Descriptive statistics were used to summarize demographic characteristics and study variables. Group comparisons were conducted using the chi-square test for categorical variables and the independent samples t-test for continuous variables. No significant differences were found between groups in maternal or newborn characteristics (p > 0.05). Similarly, breastfeeding self-efficacy scores did not differ significantly between groups (p > 0.05). However, significant differences were observed in exclusive breastfeeding and formula feeding at the 3rd and 6th months (p = 0.008; p = 0.001). The findings indicate that breastfeeding education may support breastfeeding practices. Strengthening nurses’ knowledge of breastfeeding self-efficacy and providing continued follow-up after discharge may help sustain breastfeeding.
Duygu Deniz EROL, Gülçin ÖZALP GERÇEKER Copyright (c) 2026 Göbeklitepe Medical Science Journal https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 https://gobeklitepejournal.com/index.php/pub/article/view/367 Sun, 29 Mar 2026 00:00:00 +0300
