This study was conducted to determine the factors affecting the comfort of nurses in the operating room environment and the suggestions of nurses to increase comfort. This descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted with the participation of 130 operating room nurses. A questionnaire form created by the researchers after reviewing the relevant literature was used to collect the data. The data were collected by face-to-face interviews with the nurses. Nurses rated the comfort level of the operating room as an average of 5.68±2.12 out of 10 point. The main three factors that positively affected the comfort of the operating room were friendship and team harmony (37%), ability to meet the needs (15.4%), and absence of excessive shifts (13.8%); whereas the main three factors that negatively affected the comfort of the operating room were physical conditions of the environment (38.5%), high workload and working hours (43%), and lack of personnel (18.5%). The correction of the negative situations seen in the working environment was found to be among the necessary suggestions to increase comfort. Based on the research results, it is recommended that the physical conditions of the operating room (lighting, temperature, noise, hygiene, etc.) be improved, working conditions be appropriately regulated, intra-team communication and cooperation be strengthened, and nurses' rest areas and basic needs be provided for in order to increase the comfort of operating room nurses.
